Easter Sunday

This morning we joined the URC for an Easter Sunday service. For once neither Naomi or I were responsible for any part of the morning. I was looking forward to catching up with friends over a cuppa at the end but Noah vomited in spectacular style cutting our time short and putting pay to ideas of a picnic in play park. He's now sleeping it off.

Fun in the Sun

Nothing better on a crazily hot April (yes April!) day than cooling down under the garden sprinkler. We've spent the morning in Chichester doing an Easter egg trail. We all smelt of sweat and sun cream so were in need of a cool shower when we got back. It was great to hang out with the Smitherhams again and also to catch with the Wilkes', all four of them including bump.

Car made it to Chi and back.

Knee swollen and tendern

Holidays nearly over.

Mr Fix It.

After our eventful journey back from the New Forest last weekend we have had the specter or being car-less hanging over us. We did some number crunching and discussed various options from having it fixed in the garage to ting it to the scrap yard. In the end we decided to buy a cheap radiator from ebay and researched fitting it ourselves. Dad and I started at about ten and were testing it by lunch. So far so good!

lazy daze

Yesterday we spent the afternoon at a friends beautiful country cottage. We sat in the garden eating gorgeous food, drinking lager with the kids playing happily... Well most of the time. At one point Cadan said 'i wish we lived here, look how big the garden is! After a moment of feeling like a bad parent for not providing adequately for my family I remembered to count my blessings.

Easter holidays so far...

So far it's been an eventful school Holidays. At the very start of the Easter break I had my Key Hole surgery on my knee. This means that I cannot driver, move very easily or do anything fun or interesting. So I have spent quite a bit of time reading, something I don't get to do much and mooching about.

Naomi has taken advantage of me being around to spend a bit of time out in her studio. I love seeing her out there but it happens far too infrequently. She is working on a wedding and various other Redeem projects and is starting to glimpse that, away in the distance when Noah and Reuben are a little older, that she will have more time in her studio.

We also spent a day in the New Forest. We had a lovely day but had some worrying problems with the car. It took several stops to fill the radiator up to get home and we were pleased to have Dad following us on the camper with plenty of water and tools to nurse our poorly car home. It now looks like we may need to be without a car for some time in order to save for a new one. We did though, have a lovely day. Cadan found dragons in the trees, Ben found tadpoles in the pond and Eron did a bit of Bike practice with Kev. We also had a BBQ, road around the site on bikes and sat in the lovely sun reading.

We have one more week left and Cadan is at the Cub activity week having great fun already.

Thought i'd pop round...

My Dad is apparently a very busy person. He does however have a lovely habit of popping round when he is between jobs. Today he popped round saying he needed to check up on me after my knee op. I'm pretty sure he just wanted a bit of grandad time. Being a repair man and technically still at work we thought we should give him something to repair. So out came the broken badge maker that reuben has been playing with (NB for "playing with" read almost chopping or mashing his fingers). He did not disappoint and within five head scratching minutes the retired badge maker was called back to duty. Naomi was very pleased

Reuben

Reuben

Rise up little Reuben.

Rise up and God will take your hand.

Rise up and righteously rebel against the tide of the times.

Rise up when those around you stare at their boots.

Rise up and be heard.

Rise up and be counted.

Rise up and the road will rise to you.

Rise up little Reuben.

Rise up and God will take your hand.

my knee

So here I am recovering from key-hole surgery after years of putting up with a dodgy knee. In at 7.45am, my turn on the table didn't come until 12.45. I spent the time reading, something I rarely get the time to so this was a real luxury. By 3.30 I was walking out un-aided. Amazing really. I now have to rest. Another luxury which is usually a stranger.
